The United Nations is seeking $530 million for Somalia next year. The UN estimates that about 2 million Somalis need food aid including 1.5 who are being displaced by war. The UN's Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia Mark Bowden is visiting Washington for the next few days. He has agreed to visit us here at VOA on Monday at 5pm for an interview. The interview with the Somali Service focuses on the humanitarian situation in Somalia, the current living conditions of those in South-central, the impact of violence on civilians as well as the recent appeal.
