The president said the purpose of his visit on Tuesday was to discuss with the Ethiopia government officials on the current situation in Somalia.
The Ethiopian News Agency quoted President Sharif to have said that currently peace and stability was prevailing in Somalia.
He urged the Ethiopian government to continue its support to maintain the prevailing peace and stability in his country.
On another development, top diplomats from Egypt and Ethiopia were consulting on bilateral and regional issues in Addis. The Somalia situation was part of their discussion and communiqué. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit and his counterpart foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin of Ethiopia conferred with particular interest on the political and security matters in Somalia and the Sudan.
The two sides reaffirmed the importance of the agreement recently signed between the Transitional Government of Somali (TFG) and Ahlu Sunna Waljammaa.
They also stressed the immediate need for focused and concerted action by the international community to support the TFG and its institutions.
They noted that the Djibouti Peace Process is the only viable option to bring lasting peace, security and stability in that country..
