The new Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed said his appointment is a great opportunity for him to participate in building the nation.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Somali Service, his first, Mr. Mohamed said he accepted the position because it was important that “we [Somalis] are all part of the solution”.
Mohamed, 48, also an American citizen, was appointed by President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Thursday after the resignation of his predecessor on September 21 following a dispute with the President.
He said security is the main priority, saying without the security the government cannot function. On the other hand, he opened the door to the opposition. “We have to ask all opposition groups to come to the table and find a way to solve the problems through peace full negotiations ", he declared.
