A third Somali minister has resigned. State Minister for Defense, Yusuf Mohamed Siyad known as Indho Adde, confirmed his resignation to VOA Somali. This year, Mr Indho Adde survived two attempts on his life.
Two Somali ministers Had been reported resigned earlier citing lack of progress by the government of Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke.
Culture and Higher Education Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Oomar and State Minister for President Hassan Moallim announced their decision in an exclusive interview with VOA Somali Service on Tuesday.
Oomar said the government failed to make a progress on the economic and security fronts. “The government did not live up to our expectations, the expectations of the people as well as the international community.”
State Minister for President Hassan Moallim said they sent their resignation letters to Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke.
“We did not want to be part of the old political cycle, it is very evident that no progress has been made,” Moallim said.
The Somali government has been rocked by internal dispute over the last few weeks.
