he United Kingdom has welcomed the peaceful handover of power in Somaliland today. Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo, a former rebel leader took office after winning last month’s Presidential elections which the international observers hailed as “free and fair”. John Marshall, Britain’s Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Addis which is also responsible for Somaliland Affairs told VOA Somali Service that the peaceful handover is “a very important stage in Somaliland’s development”.
On the line to Addis Ababa, he told Harun Maruf of Somali Service that Somaliland offers partnership in the region.
